Joe Rooney (Joseph Patrick Rooney) was born on August 28, 1898. After going to high school at Roosevelt (Virginia, MN), . Rooney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Duluth Kelleys. He played for the Duluth Kelleys, Duluth Eskimos, Chicago Cardinals, Pottsville Maroons and Rock Island Independents over the course of his 7 year career.
