Joe Ratica (Joseph H. Ratica) was born on August 4, 1914 in Dembo, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Centerville (PA), Ratica attended St. Vincent College. Ratica made his professional debut in the NFL in 1939 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers for his entire 1 year career.
