Joe Medwick (Joseph Michael Medwick) was born on November 24, 1911 in Carteret, New Jersey. He made his Major League debut on September 2, 1932 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1933, his rookie year, he hit .306 with 18 home runs and 98 RBI. Medwick played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants and Boston Braves over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Joe Medwick's best season was 1937, when he slugged 31 home runs, hit for a .374 average and knocked in 154 runs.
