Born on June 8, 1937 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Joe Grzenda (Joseph Charles Grzenda) played for the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Washington Senators and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 8 year career. Grzenda broke into the bigs on April 26, 1961 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 5.00 ERA in 84.2 innings pitched in 1970, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Joe Grzenda's best season was 1971, when he posted a 1.92 ERA and struck out 56 batters.
