Joe Christopher (Joseph O'Neal Christopher) was born on December 13, 1935 in Frederiksted, Virgin Islands. He made his Major League debut on May 26, 1959 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1961, his rookie year, he hit .263 with 0 home runs and 14 RBI. Christopher played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Joe Christopher's best season was 1964, when he slugged 16 home runs, hit for a .300 average and knocked in 76 runs.
