Jimmy Tays (James Elmer Tays) was born on March 10, 1899 in , MI. After going to high school at Tolono (IL), Tays attended Pennsylvania State University and Unversity of Chicago. Tays made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Staten Island Stapletons, Dayton Triangles and Chicago Cardinals over the course of his 3 year NFL career.Tays also played in the AFLG for 1 year, playing for the Chicago Bulls the entire time.

Most people believe that 1925 was Jimmy Tays's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
