Jimmy Sears (James Herbert Sears) was born on March 20, 1931 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at Inglewood (CA), Sears attended El Camino JC and the University of Southern California. Sears made his professional debut in the NFL in 1954 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Chicago Cardinals the entire time. Sears also played in the AFL for 2 years, playing for the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers over the course of his 2 year AFL career.

Most people believe that 1958 was Jimmy Sears's best year, as he had 756 kick return yards.
