Born on November 30, 1909 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jimmie DeShong (James Brooklyn DeShong) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, New York Yankees and Washington Senators over the course of his 7 year career. DeShong broke into the bigs on April 12, 1932 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 4.11 ERA in 133.2 innings pitched in 1934, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Jimmie DeShong's best season was 1936, when he posted a 4.63 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 59 batters.
