Jim Whatley (James W. Whatley) was born on March 11, 1913 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After going to high school at Alexander City (AL), Whatley attended the University of Alabama. Whatley made his professional debut in the NFL in 1936 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers for his entire 3 year career.
