Jim Thorpe (James Francis Thorpe) was born on May 28, 1887 in Prague, Oklahoma. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1913 for the New York Giants. In 1917, his rookie year, he hit .237 with 4 home runs and 40 RBI. Thorpe played for the New York Giants, Cincinnati Reds and Boston Braves over the course of his 6 year career.
