Jim Piersall (James Anthony Piersall) was born on November 14, 1929 in Waterbury, Connecticut. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1950 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1952, his rookie year, he hit .267 with 1 home run and 16 RBI. Piersall played for the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels and California Angels over the course of his 17 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Jim Piersall's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1956, when he hit for a .293 average and knocked in 87 runs. However, others believe that it was 1957, when he slugged 19 home runs and knocked in 63 runs.
