[edit] Biography

Born on April 11, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia, Jim Hearn (James Tolbert Hearn) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 13 year career. Hearn broke into the bigs on April 17, 1947 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.22 ERA in 162 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Jim Hearn's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1951, when he posted a 3.62 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 66 batters. However, others believe that it was 1950, when he posted a 2.49 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 58 batters.
