Jim Cope (James Charles Cope) was born on June 23, 1953 in Oil City, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at South Allegheny (McKeesport, PA), Cope attended Ohio State University. Cope made his professional debut in the NFL in 1976 with the Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Atlanta Falcons for his entire 1 year career.
