Born on January 8, 1975 in Maracaibo, Zulia (Venezuela), Geremi Gonzalez (Geremis Segundo (Acosta) Gonzalez) played for the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 6 year career. Gonzalez broke into the bigs on May 27, 1997 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 4.25 ERA in 144 innings pitched in 1997, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Geremi Gonzalez's best season was 1997, when he posted a 4.25 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 93 batters.
