Born on April 1, 1912 in Morehead City, North Carolina, Jake Wade (Jacob Fields Wade) played for the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators and New York Yankees over the course of his 8 year career. Wade broke into the bigs on April 22, 1936 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 5.29 ERA in 78.1 innings pitched in 1936, his rookie year.
