Jake Long (Jake Edward Long) was born on May 9, 1985. He is an offensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins where he is the offensive captain of the team. He was a top prospect in the 2008 NFL Draft, who, as a senior, allowed only one sack -- to Ohio State University's Vernon Gholston, who was picked 6th in the draft.
Long was a three-time varsity letterman at Michigan who made his first career start as a sophomore, versus San Diego State University, in 2004. In a 2004 game versus Michigan State University, Long recovered a critical offensive fumble. The Wolverines pulled off a stunning 17-point comeback against the Spartans in that game.
He was a unanimous All-Big Ten Conference first team selection in 2006.

Long was a 2004 Freshman All_American and a 2006 consensus first team All-American. He was an Outland Trophy watchlister in both 2006 and 2007, and made the All-Big Ten Conference First Team in both of those years. He was also Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2006 and 2007

Long, typically a left (blind-side) offensive tackle, is truly an elite offensive line prospect in a premier NFL position. He has superb speed and footwork to go along with hit 6'7", 315 pound frame. Anchored by Long, the Michigan offensive line has allowed just 17 sacks under his leadership in ten games this season.
Because of his excellent pass blocking, Long's run blocking may still be underrated; Michigan averaged over four yards per carry on the ground.
