Jake Jones (James Murrell Jones) was born on November 23, 1920 in Epps, Louisiana. He made his Major League debut on September 20, 1941 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1947, his rookie year, he hit .237 with 19 home runs and 96 RBI. Jones played for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Jake Jones's best season was 1947, when he slugged 19 home runs and knocked in 96 runs.
