Jack Underwood (John Patrick Underwood) was born on August 28, 1897 in Hinckley, Minnesota. After going to high school at Central (Duluth, MN), Underwood attended none. Underwood made his professional debut in the NFL in 1924 with the Duluth Kelleys. He played for the Duluth Kelleys, Chicago Cardinals, Duluth Eskimos and Pottsville Maroons over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1926 was Jack Underwood's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
