Jack Spellman (John Franklin Spellman) was born on June 14, 1899 in Middletown, Connecticut. After going to high school at Enfield (CT), Spellman attended Brown University. Spellman made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Providence Steam Roller. He played for the Providence Steam Roller and Boston Braves over the course of his 8 year career.
