Jack Clements (John J. Clements) was born on July 24, 1864 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 22, 1884 for the Philadelphia Keystones. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .275 with 3 home runs and 0 RBI. Clements played for the Philadelphia Keystones, Philadelphia Quakers, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Perfectos, Cleveland Spiders and Boston Beaneaters over the course of his 17 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Jack Clements's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1895, when he hit for a .394 average and knocked in 75 runs. However, others believe that it was 1890, when he hit for a .315 average and knocked in 74 runs.
