Indianapolis 500

The Indianapolis 500 is the most prestigous open-wheel race in North America, held every year since 1911 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race is currently part of the schedule for the Indy Racing League (IRL), and is its most valuable race on the schedule.

The race's winner is the recipient of the Borg-Warner Trophy (or more correctly, a replica of the trophy) and has his name and face etched on the trophy.

The race was on the Formula One Calendar between 1950 and 1960.
