Per: http://mvn.com/nfl-cardinals/2007/09/02/thanks-oakland-cardinals-jump-on-moses-after-raiders-reportedly-cut-him-by-mistake/

"This was the report on the KFFL fan site earlier today:

” Radio 680am just reported that Quentin Moses was let go in error. Apparently Don Johnson, an assistant coach on the defensive line had submitted a prioritized list of players he wanted to keep. Moses was inadvertently left off the list. He then sent a separate email to a guy named Jeff Birren who works in administration. Birren thought Moses was to be added to the release list, so he added the name and faxed it in to league offices in New York. The error was not discovered until after the move was official. Accidents happen. “

What Happened Next? The Arizona Cardinals picked him up.

Seriously? RAIDERS!!! WAKE UP!

You are already a laughing stock of the NFL and you go and do something as asinine as this? I hope that this kid becomes a Hall of Famer just to add to the legacy of stupidity that your front office has shown us over the last few years.

Way to go. Way to go.

Al Davis would be rolling in his grave...Wait? What? But he doesn't...oh...uummm...scratch that last part.

A few points:
  1. He clearly meant that much to him that they didn't write his name down.
  2. Why would you announce this?
  3. Did somebody not check? The Head Coach perhaps? Before it was sent off?
  4. Does this need to be true? Could they just be saying that to make him feel better?
  5. This frankly, isn't good enough. If you're going to work in any profession, you need to know what's going on. In this case, you need to know the team, and discuss things with players and coaches. You should know who you want to keep by conversation as well as by list, so when you don't see his name there, you take action (ring the coach, e.g.)
This is disgraceful.

I don't think one person is to blame. I think the entire administration/coaching staff should be. Win as a team, make a hash of things as a team. It took more than one person to make this error.

I agree. But the onus has to fall on someones shoulders. I believe that everyone is at fault, but as in any company, someone is going to take the fall and to me, the doofus that "forgot to write it down" should be the one. In other news: Randy Moss was seen laughing so hard he fell and broke his fibula.

Yeah, but, whilst it was his job to write it down (which he didn't do), it was no doubt somebody elses job to check it (which he didn't do). If neither were so lackadasical, and doing their jobs properly, and concentrating on what they were doing, there wouldn't be a problem!

I agree. Lets just cancel the Raiders membership to the NFL. Make them a USFL team...or whatever peewee league is currently running in the US
