Hub Bechtol (Hubert Edwin Bechtol) was born on April 20, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas. After going to high school at Lubbock (TX), Bechtol attended Texas Technical University and the University of Texas. Bechtol made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Baltimore Colts for his entire 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1947 was Hub Bechtol's best year.
