Born on March 1, 1921 in Coburg, Oregon, Howie Fox (Howard Francis Fox) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 9 year career. Fox broke into the bigs on September 28, 1944 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 4.93 ERA in 164.1 innings pitched in 1945, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Howie Fox's best season was 1951, when he posted a 3.83 ERA and struck out 57 batters.
