Hersh Martin (Hershel Ray Martin) was born on September 19, 1909 in Birmingham, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on April 23, 1937 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .283 with 8 home runs and 49 RBI. Martin played for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Hersh Martin's best season was 1937, when he hit for a .283 average.
