Help:Game Recaps

Game Recaps on ArmchairGM are written and edited by fans just like you. In fact, you can write a game recap right now! You can use this form for easy, push-button publishing, but you may want to read some basic tips first. The easy form is repeated at the bottom of the page for your convenience.

Basic Editing Tips

In the left column of the table below, you can see what effects are possible. In the right column, you can see how those effects were achieved. In other words, to make text look like it looks in the left column, type it in the format you see in the right column.

Basic text formatting: Italicizing/Bolding Text; Starting new paragraphs/lines

What it looks like What you type

You can emphasize text by putting two apostrophes on each side. Three apostrophes will emphasize it strongly. Five apostrophes is even stronger.

A smaller subsection

Don't skip levels, like from two to four equals signs. Start with two equals signs; don't use single equals signs.

Here's a link to a page named Jose Reyes.

You can put formatting around a link. Example: Jose Reyes.

The first letter will automatically be capitalized, so new York Mets goes to the same place as New York Mets. Capitalization matters after the first letter.

Write a Game Recap

Have you watched the game and want to write about it? ArmchairGM allows anyone -- yes, even you! -- to write a game recap that will be published for an innumerable readership. To create a game recap, simply fill in the spaces below as instructed. When identifying teams, write the team's full name (e.g. use New York Mets, not Mets; use Boston Celtics; not Celtics). This will ensure that your article gets sorted into the right pages. Also, when inputting the date, please use the MM/DD/YY format (e.g. 05/16/06).

If you fill out the form and find that the recap is already written, feel free to add and edit to the page.
