Hank Severeid (Henry Levai Severeid) was born on June 1, 1891 in Story City, Iowa. He made his Major League debut on May 15, 1911 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1915, his rookie year, he hit .222 with 1 home run and 22 RBI. Severeid played for the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators and New York Yankees over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Hank Severeid's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1922, when he hit for a .321 average and knocked in 78 runs. However, others believe that it was 1921, when he hit for a .324 average and knocked in 78 runs.
