Hal Chase (Harold Homer Chase) was born on February 13, 1883 in Los Gatos, California. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1905 for the New York Highlanders. In 1905, his rookie year, he hit .249 with 3 home runs and 49 RBI. Chase played for the New York Highlanders, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Buffalo Blues, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Hal Chase's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1915, when he slugged 17 home runs, hit for a .291 average and knocked in 89 runs. However, others believe that it was 1911, when he stole 36 bases, hit for a .315 average and knocked in 62 runs.
