Gus Alberts (Augustus Peter Alberts) was born on 1861 in Reading, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1884 for the Washington Nationals. In 1888, his rookie year, he hit .206 with 1 home run and 48 RBI. Alberts played for the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cleveland Spiders and Milwaukee Brewers over the course of his 3 year career.
