Born on August 11, 1907 in Winnemucca, Nevada, Gordon Rhodes (John Gordon Rhodes) played for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 8 year career. Rhodes broke into the bigs on April 29, 1929 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 3.41 ERA in 87 innings pitched in 1931, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gordon Rhodes's best season was 1934, when he posted a 4.56 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 79 batters.
