[1] Tonight's game was a bad start, and a heart breaking loss for the New York Yankees. The first playoff game, wasn't good. The line-up played horrendously, with no energy. This wasn't expected, as the line-up is predisposition.
The Yanks had only 5 hits. It was a poor performance, as they no confidence. The Yanks are worried, because anyone can win. During the regular season, the Yanks won 6 straight against the Cleveland Indians. It doesn't matter now, since everything changes in the playoffs.
Nobody played well, and it's a nightmare. Yankees' outfielder Johnny Damon had 1 home run, "It was fair all the way, but curving. It hit me, I dropped it, but got it back."said Craig Stammen. The rest wasn't good.
Alex Rodriguez played unsubstantiated, with the most pressure. Playing in Cleveland was purpose to help, but it didn't matter. Alex found a way to fail. It shouldn't continue, Alex can't handle struggling. He walked 2 time, good excuse. They still struggled, and Alex didn't help. Two infield popups, was formula from Alex. Get hits, and provide energy. Walks and popups didn't help, just another failing game.
If this continues, Alex won't be back. The fans won't allow failure. It happen twice, it wasn't helpful. Regular season play doesn't matter, it's the playoffs.
Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang didn't succeed. Pitching 4 innings, with 8 runs. "I'm not afraid of Wang pitching against Cleveland again," Joe Torre said. "He didn't pitch his game tonight. You win 19 games in this league, you certainly earn it. So I'm certainly not going to shy away from him." He's their best pitcher, the Yanks should worry. Wang needs to produce, or failure will happen. It was proven today. "I think by the number of balls that were hit in the air, he wasn't down. He needs to be down," Torre said. "If he's not down, against this ballclub, he's flirting with trouble." That's an excuse, he pitched bad.
The starting pitchers weren't impressive. C.C. Sabathia pitched 5 innings, with 6 walks. "Posada helped me out a little bit," Sabathia said, "and I was able to get out of it. These guys swung the bats and picked me up huge." The Yanks line-up did nothing. Sabathia wasn't great, he could do better. Sabathia struggles, got the Yankees 3 runs.
First inning, Damon homered. The Yanks scored, 1-0.
Bottom of the first, the Indians produced. Ryan Garko singled, and Travis Hafner scored. Kenny Lofton singled, Victor Martinez and Ryan Garko scored. The score was 3-1.
Third inning, Asdrubal Cabrera homered. The Indians lead, 4-1.
Robinson Cano homered, in the fifth. The score was 4-2.
Bobby Abreu doubled, Shelley Duncan scored. It heated up, 4-3 score. Sabathia left the game, because of struggles. It paid off, because the Indian ambuscade.
Bottom of the fifth, Victor Martinez homered and Cabrera scored. Lofton singled, Jhonny Peralta scored. Casey Blake doubled, Lofton and Franklin Gutierrez scored. The score was 9-2.
Next inning, Hafner homered. Lofton doubled, and Garko scored.
Eighth inning, Garko homered. The Indians finished, 12-3.
"Let's just get over it and lick our wounds and then we'll figure it out," Torre said. It's important, because nothing changed. Plyoffs failure is happening. "You have to give the Indians credit," Torre said. "For running the pitch count up on Sabathia, he bent but he didn't break." Help your team, forget the Indians. Torre's on the hot seat, make something happen.
Good news, it isn't over.
