George Savitsky (George M. Savitsky) was born on July 30, 1924 in New York, New York. After going to high school at Camden (NJ), Savitsky attended the University of Pennsylvania where he was a four-time all American tackle, and was later elected to the College Football Hall of Fame. Savitsky made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a starting tackle for the Eagles for two years, after which he entered dental school and subsequently practiced dentistry in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
