George Pinkney (George Burton Pinkney) was born on January 11, 1859 in Orange Prairie, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on August 16, 1884 for the Cleveland Spiders. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .313 with 0 home runs and 16 RBI. Pinkney played for the Cleveland Spiders, Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers, Brooklyn Bridegrooms, St. Louis Perfectos and Louisville Colonels over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that George Pinkney's best season was 1887, when he stole 59 bases and knocked in 69 runs.
