Born on January 10, 1888 in Shabbona Grove, Illinois, George Pierce (George Thomas Pierce) played for the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 6 year career. Pierce broke into the bigs on April 16, 1912 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 2.31 ERA in 163.1 innings pitched in 1913, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Pierce's best season was 1913, when he posted a 2.31 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 73 batters.
