George Groves (George Noah Groves) was born on June 10, 1921 in Hammond, Indiana. After going to high school at Rossville (IL), Groves attended Marquette University. Groves made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1946 with the Cleveland Browns. He played for the Baltimore Colts and Buffalo Bills over the course of his 3 year career.
