George Browne (George Edward Browne) was born on January 12, 1876 in Richmond, Virginia. He made his Major League debut on September 27, 1901 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1902, his rookie year, he hit .286 with 0 home runs and 40 RBI. Browne played for the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, Boston Doves, Washington Senators, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that George Browne's best season was 1903, when he stole 27 bases and hit for a .313 average.
