Born on December 11, 1878 in Cleveland, Ohio, Gene Wright (Clarence Eugene Wright) played for the Brooklyn Superbas, Cleveland Broncos, St. Louis Browns and Cleveland Naps over the course of his 4 year career. Wright broke into the bigs on October 5, 1901 with the Brooklyn Superbas, and put up a 3.95 ERA in 148 innings pitched in 1902, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Gene Wright's best season was 1902, when he posted a 3.95 ERA and struck out 52 batters.
