Born on November 22, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, Gene Walter (Gene Winston Walter) played for the San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 4 year career. Walter broke into the bigs on August 9, 1985 with the San Diego Padres, and put up a 3.86 ERA in 98 innings pitched in 1986, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gene Walter's best season was 1986, when he posted a 3.86 ERA and struck out 84 batters.
