Gene DeMontreville
[edit] Biography
Gene DeMontreville (Eugene Napoleon DeMontreville) was born on March 10, 1873 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He made his Major League debut on August 20, 1894 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1896, his rookie year, he hit .343 with 8 home runs and 77 RBI. DeMontreville played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Orphans, Brooklyn Superbas, Boston Beaneaters and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 11 year career.
There is some disagreement on what was Gene DeMontreville's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1897, when he stole 30 bases, hit for a .341 average and knocked in 93 runs. However, others believe that it was 1898, when he stole 49 bases, hit for a .328 average and knocked in 86 runs.
