Gene Atkins (Gene Reynard Atkins) was born on November 22, 1964 in Tallahassee, Florida. After going to high school at James S. Rickards (Tallahassee, FL), Atkins attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Atkins made his professional debut in the NFL in 1987 with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins over the course of his 10 year career.
Most people believe that 1991 was Gene Atkins's best year, as he picked off 5 passes.
