12

The preseason ESPN/USA Today coaches poll was released on Friday, and defending champs Florida was the near-unanimous No. 1 pick.

The Gators, who return all five starters from their championship squad, claimed 30 of the 31 available first-place votes. University of North Carolina was the No. 2 team, followed by Kansas and Ohio State. Pittsburgh and UCLA are tied for fifth.

I was kind of surprised to see Texas even as high as 19. They lost all their starters from last year, and even a few bench players to trasnfers. They are an incredibly young team, showing a roster with 7 freshmen. They have just one senior, who has a total of 23 points in his college career. They will probably be starting three freshmen this year. True, two of them will be a couple of the most highly recruited players in the country, but it will take a while for this team to play like a team.

Wow. I wasn't even expecting top 25 for Texas. Of course, with Barnes' track record and the talent of the recruits, I guess its a plausible #19. Some are saying that by mid-way through the year it my big all freshman starters.

Texas A&M is ranked in the top15, has that ever happened before? They did make it to round 2 and come close versus LSU in a spurisingly close game, but still seems high for a program with no track record of sustained success.

I'd have a hard time imagining all freshman starters. I can see four, but I don't think anyone is going to replace AJ Abrams at the point.

Yeah, it was in an article I read, can't place where right now. I thought that as well, Abrams is solid, but you never know with the talent thats coming... interesting thought either way.
