Freddy Spurgeon (Fred Spurgeon) was born on October 9, 1900 in Wabash, Indiana. He made his Major League debut on September 19, 1924 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1925, his rookie year, he hit .287 with 0 home runs and 32 RBI. Spurgeon played for the Cleveland Indians for his entire 4 year career.

Most people believe that Freddy Spurgeon's best season was 1926, when he hit for a .295 average.
