Freddie Patek (Frederick Joseph Patek) was born on October 9, 1944 in Seguin, Texas. He made his Major League debut on June 3, 1968 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1968, his rookie year, he hit .255 with 2 home runs and 18 RBI. Patek played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals and California Angels over the course of his 14 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Freddie Patek's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1971, when he stole 49 bases. However, others believe that it was 1977, when he stole 53 bases and knocked in 60 runs.
