Fred McGriff (Frederick Stanley McGriff) was born on October 31, 1963 in Tampa, Florida. He made his Major League debut on May 17, 1986 for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 1987, his rookie year, he hit .247 with 20 home runs and 43 RBI. McGriff played for the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers over the course of his 19 year career.

Most people believe that Fred McGriff's best season was 1993, when he slugged 37 home runs, hit for a .291 average and knocked in 101 runs.
