Born on November 15, 1955 in San Francisco, California, Fred Breining (Fred Lawrence Breining) played for the San Francisco Giants and Montreal Expos over the course of his 5 year career. Breining broke into the bigs on September 4, 1980 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 2.55 ERA in 77.2 innings pitched in 1981, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Fred Breining's best season was 1982, when he posted a 3.08 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 98 batters.
