Born on May 17, 1894 in New Haven, Connecticut, Frank Woodward (Frank Russell Woodward) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Senators and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 5 year career. Woodward broke into the bigs on April 17, 1918 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.86 ERA in 172.2 innings pitched in 1919, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Frank Woodward's best season was 1919, when he posted a 3.86 ERA.
