Fran Tarkenton (Francis Asbury Tarkenton) was born on February 3, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia. After going to high school at Athens (GA), Tarkenton attended the University of Georgia. Tarkenton made his professional debut in the NFL in 1961 with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that 1967 was Fran Tarkenton's best year, as he threw for 3088 yards, tossed 29 TDs and put up a 85.9 passer rating.
