Fran O'Brien (Francis Joseph O'Brien) was born on April 17, 1936 in Springfield, Massachusetts. After going to high school at Holyoke (MA), O'Brien attended Michigan State University. O'Brien made his professional debut in the NFL in 1959 with the Cleveland Browns. He played for the Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1960 was Fran O'Brien's best year.
