Hanley Ramirez, Marlins shortstop. Hanley was a key piece the Marlins recieved in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. So far the trade has paid dividens; power, speed, and overall one of the best offensive players in the game today.
The 1997 Florida Marlins was the first of the two World Series championships the franchise has won. The team was considered young at the time, but brought young talents such as Edgar Renteria and Gary Sheffield into the spotlight.
After coming in last in 2007 in the National League East, the Florida Marlins are in a rebuilding process while having issues with their stadium. The 2007 offseason trade of star players Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis shows that this rebuilding process is moving slow and there are no signs of a turn-around any time soon.
