Festus Tierney (Festus Patrick Tierney) was born on July 1, 1899 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After going to high school at North (Minneapolis, MN), Tierney attended the University of Minnesota. Tierney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1922 with the Toledo Maroons. He played for the Minneapolis Marines, Milwaukee Badgers and Toledo Maroons over the course of his 4 year career.
